Workshop

This workshop gives you the tools to create a strategic plan that elevates your influence and impact within your organization.

If you’re a design practitioner, manager, or leader who feels like you’re struggling to become more influential in organizational decision-making, this workshop is for you. You’ll learn how to get “unstuck,” redefine your role, and level up within your organization.

You’ll learn frameworks, tools, and tactics to craft a strategy for organizational change: Setting a clear vision for design impact Diagnosing the current state of the organization Identifying key levers to drive change Selecting, prioritizing, and applying tactics for change

The first half of the workshop focuses on reflection. You’ll be guided through exercises that help you develop a deeper understanding of your organization and identify opportunities for influence.

In the second half of the workshop, you’ll create a strategic action plan. You’ll receive materials that introduce tactics that can be used to influence different aspects of your organization. For each tactic, you’ll learn when, where, and how to use it, as well as the level of effort and resources required. Through a series of guided exercises, you’ll turn reflections and tactics into a personalized plan.

You’ll leave the workshop with a completed workbook filled with notes, reflections, and a strategic plan that you can put into action immediately.

Dave Hora

Dave Hora is a researcher fascinated by how teams work together—and what it is that makes research meaningfully impact product & design. As a five time “first researcher,” he established the formal research program at a consultancy and four startups in Silicon Valley. At PlanGrid, Dave developed the research function as a strategic partner to Design and Product, growing the team to three fulltime researchers. Recently, Dave moved to Denver Colorado, and is consulting as the Employee of the Month at Dave’s Research Company, Ltd. That practice includes strategic research projects; coaching individual researchers; and flipping the research lens outsidein, helping organizations uncover, model, and redesign their product delivery processes. Dave is a board member of the ResearchOps Community, and currently leads a volunteer project developing a global ‘Researcher Skills & Career Workshop’ series. You can find him on Twitter @stonecrops_.
