Enhancing Traditional Museum Experiences With Immersive Technologies
Note: Due to events out of our control this talk will be presented via video conferencing link.
Immersive technologies have brought new challenges and opportunities to experience designers and information architects. How does a virtual layer change the way we address traditional UX problems? What’s the best practice? What are the most interesting things companies and studios are working on around the virtual world?
This talk will take you behind the scene of PlastAR, an Augmented Reality experience designed for Carnegie Museum of Art, produced by Entertainment Technology Center of CMU. I will take a deep dive into how the experience solved problems like information asymmetry, the infrastructure that made it possible, and what has changed since it was published.
The experience has been featured in CMoA since 2017, and was named ‘Top Ten Must-see Architecture Shows in 2018’ by the Architect’s Newspaper. By walking through the problems and challenges we met during sixteen weeks of design and development, the author wants to discuss with the audience the role of immersive technologies in traditional art exhibitions and beyond.
