EuroIA runs a scholarship programme to cover the cost of attendance for those that might otherwise not be able to participate. The cost of these tickets are covered by donations from the community, sponsors, and a special ticket discount from our logistical partners Kunverj.

We believe that EuroIA will thrive if it includes voices from all corners of our society. In 2020, we have decided to extend the scholarships programme to include members of diverse communities that are underrepresented in the EuroIA community. You can read more about that decision in this blog post over on Medium.

Eligibility

As a baseline, you need to be:

  1. Interested in the field of Information Architecture. This could be through your educational background or occupation. It could also be because you are considering a career in User Experience (or another digital design role) and want to learn more.
  2. Currently constrained in your ability to afford the financial cost of participating in EuroIA (for whatever reason).

More specifically though, you will be eligible for a scholarship if you meet either of the following two criteria:

  1. Currently enrolled in higher education, or have graduated within the last 12 months. OR
  2. You are a member of an underrepresented group.

A note on point 2: We appreciate that what classifies as “underrepresented group” varies across Europe. Often, this is based on racial or ethnic origin. Generally, this could refer to those who are Black, Brown or Asian. More broadly, it could refer to those from indigenous communities (such as Roma, Sami or Bosniak). This list is by no means exhaustive.

Selection

Our goal is to one day be able to give every eligible applicant a scholarship ticket. Until that day comes, we ask applicants to fill in a simple form. As part of that form, you will be asked to submit a written piece outlining why you would like to attend EuroIA, and how you hope attendance will impact your career and development.

Your application will be reviewed by our scholarship panel. The panel is drawn from EuroIA volunteers that are committed to increasing representation in all corners of the community.

Applications will be considered on a first-come, first served basis and allocated whilst places are funded and available. If you are eligible but there are no available places, you will be added to a waiting list. More places may become available right up until the conference start date, so keep an eye on your inbox in case of last minute donations/cancellations.
